We believe in nurturing talent, fostering growth, and contributing to the future of the construction sector. That’s why we’ve partnered with George Brown and Nova Scotia Community College to establish a construction bursary that aims to help shape the next generation of highly skilled professionals who will bring their expertise, innovation, and commitment to an industry in need of their skills. With 10 bursaries available at each school, we’re offering:
Open to eligible students at George Brown and Nova Scotia Community College1, this bursary provides financial assistance to aspiring professionals enrolled in construction management, masonry, carpentry, or electrical programs. Bursary recipients will be selected by each schools’ student awards office based on the application criteria, academic standing, and financial need.
Our goal isn’t to just help build careers; we want to lay the foundation for innovation and expertise in a construction sector that needs skilled professionals. Careers can span a diverse range of roles, from hands-on physical work to project management and design, this sector places high value on practical skills, innovative problem-solving abilities, and forward thinking.
See what past bursary recipients have to say:
"The award that I have received has an incredible impact. It has helped me pay for school, textbooks, gas, and tools. As well, I’m able to work only one day a week to take the time to study for tests and work on assignments. So, I am extremely thankful for this award."
“I have ADHD and with that comes a lot of over stressing about things I cannot change, and one of those things is money. Thanks to this bursary, I'll have less stress and more time to focus on my trade. I want to prove to myself and my son that if you work hard and are dedicated you can do anything you put your mind to.”
"For the past couple of years, I have been living paycheck to paycheck, so going back to school has been scary. I was stressed about how I would cover both my cost of living and the cost of education. Receiving this bursary will help relieve some financial stress, allow me to focus solely on my education, and ensure that I will be able to enter the workforce after school debt-free."
"This award will do so much in alleviating the stress of being a full-time student, while still being able to pay the bills. As a mature student, I am fully responsible for my finances and am not receiving any assistance aside from student loans and bursaries. It’s a short- term pain for long term gain, but this award is going to make it less painful and I’m very grateful for that."

The construction sector has experienced steady growth, and for the first time in decades, there are more projects than people working in the industry.2 The demand for skilled professionals has never been higher.
Choose our own career path, from hands-on site work to technical positions. And there are many opportunities for career development. From entry-level roles you can learn more highly skilled trades, and even progress to leadership roles or small business ownership.
You’ll work alongside people with different skills, backgrounds, and specialties, from architects and engineers, to builders, electricians, and more. This diversity provides a rich work environment with continuous learning opportunities.
While some jobs demand rigid schedules and repetitive tasks, construction offers flexibility uncommon in other fields. Work schedules vary by project, and the tasks you undertake can be different every day. Roles may also offer the opportunity to travel.
From homes to offices, schools to hospitals, and roads to bridges, construction professionals create the physical spaces where we live, work, and play. This means you're not just building structures; you're shaping the world in a meaningful way, leaving a legacy for years to come.
